Grumpy Donut Season is Here!
The Grumpy donut season has officially begun. Come and taste our favorites for yourself!

The donut is one of the world’s sweetest traditions, a true symbol of happiness. A freshly baked, light-as-air, fragrant donut can instantly put anyone in a good mood. Few foods exist in so many diverse forms, flavors, and stories across global cultures, yet represent the same thing everywhere: joy, abundance, celebration, and sharing.

While the origins of the donut are shrouded in mystery, chronicles suggest that even in Ancient Rome, people enjoyed deep-fried dough balls drizzled with honey. In medieval Europe, the Carnival season (Farsang) was a time for feasts before Lent and the “burying of winter,” which is how the rich, yeast-raised, fried donut became a symbol of prosperity and revelry.

Our personal favorite, the traditional Hungarian Carnival donut (farsangi fánk), is a unique wonder: airy, light, dusted with powdered sugar, and served with jam. It is golden-brown on the outside and fluffy on the inside, often made from a rich butter and rum-infused dough. Unlike some varieties, ours isn’t “holy”—it’s a full, round pastry. When fried to perfection, it features a “ribbon” (szalagos), a light-colored ring encircling its middle. A true “ribboned” donut is more than just a sweet treat; it’s a taste of nostalgia.

Our selection wouldn’t be complete without giant filled donuts. Whether it’s Nutella, apricot jam, vanilla cream, strawberry cream, or pistachio, you can enjoy the full experience throughout January and February.
